Common Types of Kidney Disease
Common Types of Kidney Diseases
π΅ KIDNEY STONES
Kidney stones are created when minerals form in urine β more than fluid can dilute β and they can become large enough to block the flow of your urine.
π΅ ACUTE KIDNEY INJURY (AKI)
AKI causes kidney damage or failure within a short period of time. Causes may include major burns, shock (a sudden drop in blood pressure), excessive bleeding, severe dehydration, or medication use. It occurs more often in older individuals and hospitalized patients, especially those who require intensive care.
π΅ CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE (CKD)
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is when lasting damage to your kidneys causes them to lose their ability to filter waste and fluid out of your blood. Waste can build up in your body and harm your health. This damageβand your kidney functionβcan get worse over time, and when your kidneys stop working completely, this is called kidney failure or end-stage renal disease.
